Chief Executive Officer: Eduardo Bravo, MBA
Eduardo has more than 18 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. His professional career includes several senior management positions at Sanofi-Aventis, including Vice President for Latin America, where he was in charge of more than 2000 employees and oversaw sales of more than €1 billion. At Sanofi-Aventis he also held positions such as Marketing and Sales Manager for Europe and General Manager for Belgium. He also worked for 7 years in SmithKline Beecham in sales positions both nationally and internationally. Eduardo holds a degree in Business Administration and an MBA (INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France). In addition, Eduardo Bravo is a member of the Board of Directors of Cellerix.
Chief Financial Officer: Claudia D’Augusta, PhD
Claudia has more than 10 years of experience in corporate finance. After completing her PhD degree, she joined the Corporate Finance Department at Deloitte & Touche in Milan. She then moved to Apax Partners in Madrid where she was responsible for setting up and implementing M&A transactions. She was then made Chief Financial Officer at Aquanima (Grupo Santander). Claudia has a degree in Economics from the University of Bocconi, Italy, and a PhD in Business Administration awarded by Bocconi University and Visiting Fellow in financial risk management at Harvard University.
VP Global Medical, Research & Development: José Luis Bravo, MD, PhD
During the first four years of his professional career, José Luis practiced medicine at several hospitals in Madrid. In 1987 he started his career in the pharmaceutical industry. During this extensive period José Luis has held several positions as Medical as well as Research and Development Director in several multinational companies including Janssen, Hoechst Marion Roussel, Dupont Pharmaceutical, Bristol Myers Squibb and Schwarz Pharma. Prior to joining Cellerix he was Medical Director at UCB where he undertook the restructuring of the medical department following the merger between Schwarz Pharma and UCB. José Luis has a PhD in Medicine and Surgery awarded by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
VP Regulatory and Manufacturing: María Pascual, PhD
María has an intensive research career behind her in the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-CSIC) and is a winner of the international Julia Bodmer Award. Her international experience includes work in the Mayo Clinic (MN, USA) and the Leiden University Medical Center (Netherlands). She specialised in drug development and regulatory affairs in the field of advanced therapies. She has experience in different positions in the area of regulatory affairs. She is an active participant in several technical working groups and lobbies for European industry in advanced therapies and is currently an expert consultant in this field for the European Medicines Agency (EMEA). María graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Granada and obtained her PhD in Pharmacy from the CSIC.
Technical Director: Gemma Fernández, PhD
Gemma has 5 years of experience working in research in the field of stem cells and in specialist laboratories. Since joining Cellerix, she and her team have reached some key milestones, such as obtaining accreditation for Cellerix as a pharmaceutical company by the AEMPS (Spanish Medicines Agency) and the management of the clinical trials undertaken by the company. Gemma is a Biology graduate from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and has a PhD in Biology awarded by the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
Infrastructure Director: Mario Reviriego
Mario was previously the Technical Director of the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas-CNIO), where he was responsible for coordinating the infrastructure of the center, including IT, maintenance, biosecurity, and management of the installations and building for scientific use. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Mario is a Biology graduate from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and has a Diploma in IT Management from the IC.
Business Development Senior Director: Claudia Jiménez, MBA
Claudia began her professional career in the WestLB AG investment bank (Germany), where she held a number of positions in her 5-year stay, the most recent being in the M&A Department, where she directed projects in several industries, including the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology. Claudia has degrees in International Business Studies from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) and the FDH Reutlingen (Germany), and an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid.
Director of Intellectual Property: Debjani Roy
Before joining Cellerix, Debjani worked for eight years as Manager of Intellectual Property for the biotechnology company Epigenomics. During that period she managed a significant patent portfolio, developed corporate Intellectual Property strategy, assisted in license agreements and supported the company during its IPO and over several financing rounds. Debjani has degrees in Genetics and Management of Intellectual Property from the University of London, and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2007.
Senior Controler: Virginia González
Virginia has several years of experience working in financial departments. Before joining Cellerix Virginia worked at Decathlon where she held a number of positions, with a diverse range of responsibilities. These included the auditing and management of large retail accounts, as well as having responsibility for further education within the department. At Cellerix, she has contributed to building a solid financial department, during a very strategic stage in the company´s development. Virginia has a degree in Business Management from the University of Oviedo and a Master´s degree in Economic and Financial Management.
Clinical Operations Director: Lydia Dorrego
Lydia has more than 12 years’ experience in the clinical operations area in different pharmaceutical companies. She previously worked in the Clinical Investigation area at Amersham Health laboratories during seven years. Lydia then worked at GE Healthcare, where she held different positions. After that, and during three years, Lydia was a Clinical Research Manager in the CRO_Trial Form Support acting as Project Manager for various projects. Before joining Cellerix, she worked at Casen-Fleet as Medical Project Manager, EMEAI. Lydia holds a Pharmaceutical Degree from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (Spain) and a MBA in Pharmaceutical and Para-pharmaceutical Industry from the Centro de Estudios Superiores de la Industria Farmacéutica (CESIF).
Mr Joël Jean Pierre Jean-Mairet, Chairman
Mr Jean-Mairet has a degree in Biology and Master in Biochemical Sciences, specialized in Biotechnology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), Switzerland. Mr Jean-Mairet received a PhD in Cell Biology and Immunotherapy from the ETH Zurich. He co-founded GLYCART Biotechnology AG (Zurich, Switzerland) in March 2001. He was Chief Executive Officer from its foundation until 2006. As Chief Executive Officer of GLYCART, he led a number of key in/out licensing deals, and oversaw the acquisition of the company by F. Hoffmann La-Roche Ltd. Mr. Jean-Mairet is currently Partner and co-founder of Ysios Capital Partners in Barcelona (Spain).
Mrs Mounia Chaoui-Roulleau
Mrs Chaoui-Roulleau studied Bioengineering at the Ecole Centrale Paris and Molecular Biophysics at the University of Paris VI, where she was awarded her PhD in the same field. She started her wide-ranging career in the pharmaceutical industry at the Gustav Roussy Institute before moving on to Atlas Venture as an analyst. She then worked as a consultant at Telesis and Altran Technologies. From 2001 until present, Mrs Chaoui-Roulleau has been a General Partner with Ventech, a subsidiary of Natixis. She serves on the Executive Committee of various biotech companies such as INSERM, Aptanomics and Xytis.
Mr Eduardo González
Mr Gonzalez has a degree in Business from the University CEU Luis Vives in Madrid, holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, and completed the Executive Management Program at the IESE business school (Spain). He is Member of Cellerix’ Board as Genetrix’ representative, company of which he is currently Chairman. Mr González began his professional career at Philips Spain, later he was transferred to Philips Netherlands where he acquired responsibilities in areas such as Investment and Finance. After a brief period at ING Real Estate, he assumed the leadership of the Finance Strategy and Business Development Group managing the investments of ONCE (Spanish National Organization of the Blind).
Mr Luis Oliver Gómez
Mr Oliver is the representative of the company Navarra Iniciativas Empresiales S.A. Mr Oliver has an honors degree in Agricultural Engineering. On finishing his studies, he started working in several of the companies within his family consortium, currently Grupo Empresarial Enhol S.L., and holds executive positions in many of these companies. His long professional career also includes serving on the executive committee of other companies outside the family consortium, such as Navarra Iniciativas Empresariales and Start up Capital Navarra S.A. In addition, he is a member, representative, board member and secretary of associations and foundations such as the Foro Europeo de Formación Empresarial (European Business School) (Board Member), the Navarra Chamber of Commerce Board (Member), The Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (Representative), etc. In 2002, he, along with his three brothers, was awarded the Yearly Business Prize by the journal Negocios en Navarra.
Mr Florent Gros
Mr Florent has a Biotechnology Engineering Degree in France, and made his diploma thesis at Glaxo-Vaccine in Belgium. He also holds European and French patent lawyer degrees, a Master in Private Law, and is a Kauffman Fellow (class 12). For nearly 15 years, he held various positions and projects in the intellectual property and venture areas at Nestlé, Aventis-Pasteur and Novartis, in various countries including Switzerland, France and USA. Currenty he is Managind Director of Novartis Venture Fund and before joining Novartis, Florent has had multiple experiences in managing IP, BD&L and M&A projects, particularly in the Biologics area.
Mr Joachim Günther Rothe
Mr Rothe studied Biochemistry, and went on to obtain a Master’s degree (Berlin Free University) and a PhD (Freiburg University), also in Biochemistry. He has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, occupying positions in McKinsey & Company as a project manager in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector and in Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel (Switzerland) where he worked in the Preclinical Development Department and in the company’s research center. Currently, he is head of the Munich branch of Life Sciences Partners and holds a number of positions on supervisory boards of different pharmaceutical countries throughout Europe. Before joining Life Sciences Partners, Mr Rothe was Director of MPM Capital in Cambridge (USA), and General Manager of MPM Capital GmbH in Munich (Germany).
Dr. Eduard Enrico Holdener
Dr. Eduard Enrico Holdener earned his medical degree from the University of Zurich and held the post of Chief Medical Officer & Global Development Head in the Pharma Division of F. Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd until February 2008. He began his career in pharmaceuticals in 1986 after 14 years of working at various hospitals and academic institutions in Switzerland and the United States. During his tenure at Roche, he was credited with winning approval for an important number of new medicines in the different therapeutic areas where he collaborated.
