The company

Founded in 2004 as a spin-off from the Genetrix Group, Cellerix is a biopharmaceutical company devoted to development and production of innovative medicinal products based on cell therapy.

Cellerix is currently leading development of a new generation of medicines based on allogeneic adult stem cells, mainly derived from adipose tissue (eASCs). Development is currently aimed at indications of an inflammatory and/or autoimmune origin, representing areas with major unmet clinical needs.

Cellerix has a complete organizational structure consisting of a wide team of professionals covering all areas required to take a product from the preclinical to the registry phase, including clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing, R&D, business development, product development, patent rights, and finance areas.

The company has shown experience in regulatory and clinical development of its products (its first product was approved for Phase III studies in 8 European countries) and was the first European cell therapy company to license a product to a pharmaceutical company for the North American market.

In 2010, Cellerix was the first Spanish company to have a GMP plant approved for the manufacture of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) for marketing purposes. The manufacturing process of eASCs is fully validated by European regulatory agencies.

Cellerix is supported by both its parent company (the Genetrix Group) and a solid and outstanding investor base including specialized European venture capital funds (Ventech, LSP, Ysios), corporate investment funds (Roche and Novartis Venture Funds), and Spanish private and institutional investors. The management team of Cellerix also participates in its financing through direct investments and an employee stock option plan.

Cellerix is constantly evaluating new opportunities for growth through licensing of products based on cell therapy which have a strong patent rights position and a demonstrated proof of concept, in order to complement its pipeline and create added value.
